International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)

Each month there will be a project for our local Parish alternating with the National IOCC. We would like to encourage everyone to contact Jeane Wood with ideas for our “local events” and to keep our ears and eyes open in their circles of the needs of others.

Projects at St Johns

We would like to invite everyone to bake their favorite dish… this can be something sweet or savory, a desert or a main dish.
After services on The 17th families will sell their creations.  Each family will choose from the catalog the gift of love that they would like to purchase with the proceeds that they made from the sale. Items can be purchased from 10.00 to 100.00…We will be posting pictures of the families with their choices out of the catalog, the children are encouraged to  draw a picture of their choices

One station was set up for frosting Christmas cookies another station for the kids writing their cards and yet another station with all the backpack supplies.

60 backpacks containing a hygiene kit, gloves and beanie, 2 pairs of socks, 2 hand warmers, 2 thermal blankets, a flashlight, some sweet treats, chocolates and granola bars, and a prayer book with a note from the children assuring the recipient that they were in the child’s prayers and were cared about.

Another big thank you to Lisa Gencarella and her girls for frosting at least 5 dozen cookies at home.

If anyone would like to make a meal for the shelter or back some cookies let me know and I will get the goodies to the manager. We will be supporting the shelter through all winter until it closes.

Provided a yummy treat table stocked with Hot chocolate, marshmallows, apple cider, eggnog and Christmas cookies for the Union Gospel Mission Women and Children’s  Shelter in Coeur d alene.
Gifts were provided for a family of three referred to us from the Domestic violence shelter Post Falls Police Department, and the ongoing “we got you girl” project where we are supply the homeless shelter with feminine hygiene supplies and needs for the ladies. We provided $300.00 to a local Post Falls lady who was injured in a fall and needed help paying her rent. The overwhelming generosity from the members at St. John’s is heartwarming and touching.
