Lucille was born on August 12, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey to Cosmo and Juliona (Markevicius) Padovano. She grew up and attended secondary school in Newark, as well as Jersey City State College. This is where she met Sidney Horton, Jr., and they were married on May 14, 1960. Lucille lived in Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey for 25 years. She worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penny’s. In 2002, she moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her oldest son’s family. Lucille is a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and a member of the 3-C’s Coeur d’Aleers singing group. She enjoyed her friends, movies, bingo, cards, shopping, reading, puzzles, and especially her grandchildren. In seemingly good health, Lucille was taken to the ER on Sunday, February 23rd with chest pain. Determining it was not a heart attack, the doctors did more tests. In the end, Lucille was rushed to KMC Medical Center for emergency surgery, but it was too late. A blood clot had cut off blood supply to her gastrointestinal tract. Lucille reposed surrounded by her loved ones praying at her bedside on Tuesday, February 25th. Lucille is survived by her three sons: Francis “Fr. Gregory” Horton (Cindy) of Moyie Springs, ID, Gregory (Tracy) Horton of Middletown, NJ, and Sidney (Suzie) Horton, III of Hazlet, NJ; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Dominic Padovano, and one sister, Celia Lorusso.
